CONSTRUCTION

This small towel can be used during exercise, like during a hot yoga class, or for a bathroom hand towel. It is worked flat from bottom to top, using garter, stockinette, bobbles, and lace in a worsted-weight cotton yarn, held double. Small fringe decorate the top and bottom edges.

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES REQUIRED

  • holding yarn double, bobbles, lace, and fringe.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

  • 8 by 16.5 inches (20 by 42cm).

GAUGE in 4 inches (10cm) after blocking

Garter, worked flat

  • 14 sts by 26 rows.

NEEDLES

  • 6.5mm (US 101/2).

Substitute with size required to obtain gauge if needed.

YARN

  • 2 balls of Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton Yarn, 100% Mercerized Cotton, 170m/ 186 y /100g; or
  • 212m/ 232 y of substitute yarn.

Yarn is held double throughout; holding yarn single with smaller needles makes a smaller towel.

NOTIONS

  • scissors, 5mm (US H-8) crochet hook, and tapestry needle.
