INTRODUCTION
Like a lot of families, there are a handful of Christmas movies my household watches every season. Elf is one of our favourites, which stars Will Ferrell as Buddy, the human child who was accidentally adopted into an elf family living at Santa’s workshop. As an adult, Buddy searches for his biological father, Walter, a gruff executive who works at Greenway Press. Walter is obsessed by work, but learns the importance of family through a relationship with his long lost son. I felt as though these cabled accessories would have fit in with Walter’s posh New York office, but the squish and comfort of the fabric mimic his soft heart hidden underneath all the bravado.
This collection includes patterns for 3 items: a cowl, hat and pair of mittens. They feature three different cable patterns; the most complex version, in the cowl, was taken from Nora Gaughn’s Cable Sourcebook while the more simple cables are adapted from that stitch pattern. However, all the cable stitches are two-over-two cables which can be worked without a cable needle, if desired. All three patterns are worked from the bottom up in worsted weight yarn.
