JENSEN PULLOVER

My dear friend and I took a hiking trip in Kananaskis, Alberta in August of 2024, where we spent a lot of time in nature and breathing in the mountain air, but we were able to spend some time in city of Canmore as well. We stopped in at Sugar Pine Company, a quilting store that also sells some yarn, patterns, and knitting notions.

My friend, who has an amazing eye for colour and design, especially ways to create depth in colour combinations, helped me pick out these three colours of Kremke Soul Wool Reborn, a recycled wool-blend, aran-weight yarn. The recycled nature of the fibre creates flecks of colour within the yarn, sort of like tweed! So beautiful.

It’s so fun for me to look back on these memories of a special time, and that day picking the yarn, when I literally had no idea what it would become. And now it has become the Jensen, which is a dependable part of my wardrobe!

JENSEN is a slightly dropped-shoulder pullover, worked from the top-down, with shoulders shaped simultaneously as one piece. It begins at the back neck, then increases rapidly at four points, similar to a raglan yoke, to create sloped dropped shoulders. The back and two fronts are worked separately to form the armholes, while v-neck shaping is added to the front panels, then joined for the body where colourwork is added before the hem. The slim-fitting sleeves feature a little more colourwork, and are worked in the round in stockinette to the cuff. The final fit has the shoulder line not at the top of the shoulder but further to the back of the pullover; this helps pull up the v-neck.

Jensen comes in 9 size options, to fit a bust circumference of 32-64 inches (81-162.5cm). This drop-shoulder construction includes armhole shaping for the 3 largest sizes, so that the shoulder drop doesn’t go too far into the sleeve.

I’ve been finding this to be an extremely wearable design. I believe the shoulder construction helps the top of the pullover to stay in place. I even bought a few more v-neck long-sleeved shirts so that I can where the Jensen more often! I do find the Kremke yarn a bit scratchy on my skin, but a long-sleeve fixes this right up.

I hope you enjoy the Jense! I love to see and share your projects on Instagram! If you like, you can tag them with @the.bluebird.box. Instagram no longer allows us to follow hashtags, so unfortunately tagging them will not help me to see your project. But uploading a project page to Ravelry is always appreciated! Thank you for supporting my creative work!

Much love,

Anna.
